Wisconsin Republicans Hoisted on Own Petard

Wisconsin Republicans are whining about unfair media treatment of their own proposals. First Representative Frank Lasee (R-2nd) complains that Democrats are Changing the Subject as the public examines his proposal to end funding of the University of Wisconsin Law School. He is disturbed that his idea received so much attention and pitifully asks, "Should you judge a $56 Billion budget on one small item? "

Yes Frank.  You were the one who proposed it. You were the one who craved the publicity. You told us to focus on it.

Then after Representative Sheryl Albers of Reedsburg suggests that courts supervise post divorce visitation rights and custody of dogs and guppies, her colleague in their law firm, Mark Hazelbaker implores us that the Criticism of Albers is unfair and that she is a 'breath of fresh air."

He notes that she is often the target of criticism from not just Democrats but members of her own party. I cannot imagine why.

The most important issue before the legislature is the state budget. Democrats in the Senate made a sincere effort to solve the health insurance crisis in Wisconsin. Republicans are portraying it as a tax hike and mixing the numbers into the tax analysis by focusing on the size of the revenues without acknowledging that is a significant new program.

Then when they get what they asked for, public attention to proposals like destroying the UW Law School and adding puppy custody (which may be a legitimate issue) into the mix, they complain that they are not taken seriously.

Albers and Lassee should get together before issuing any more press releases. If he gets his way there will be no more lawyers to argure in the custody battle over Fido and Daisy.

Go figure.

Well, I think it's obvious that the most important thing to be learned here is - Hey! Mark Hazelbaker??! I knew him in college. Freshman year, spanish class. Sorry, but Hazelbaker isn't the kind of name you forget and that class was pretty darn small. Can't forget how much I hated that professor either. Uppity castilian accent and a bad attitude. Hijo de...

So. Hazelbaker went on to become a wing-nut lawyer in the south, and I am a moon-bat housewife of the north, but we BOTH irritate people. That was a hell of a spanish class, eh? It warped us all.
