In today's Capital Times, Judy Davidoff reported that "AG says cable bill backers didn't break current law."
...In early July, (Rep. Joe) Parisi and Rep. Sondy Pope-Roberts, D-Middleton, asked (Attorney General) Van Hollen to investigate whether TV4US, a group pushing for deregulation of the cable TV industry, violated any laws when it incorrectly included opponents of the bill in a list of supporters delivered to all state legislators.
In a letter to the legislators Wednesday, Van Hollen wrote that "presenting inaccurate information to legislators does not violate any law.
"While your letter references potential violations of laws pertaining to fraudulent advertising, TV4US's actions do not fall within the purview of the statutes we have identified that cover that subject."
So, as long it's legal to claim supporters for your cause even though said supporters might actually support an opposing position, we're announcing the latest group of supporters of TeleTruth Wisconsin, in the spirit of TV4US:
- Tommy Thompson
- Fred Thompson
- Mitt Romney
- Bill Clinton
- Mark Belling
- Barry Alvarez
- Brett Favre
- Elvis
- Barry Orton
