I read some more Neocon nonsense this morning. No links to that trash. More drivel about how poverty and economic injustice are worth the price of unfettered capitalism.
Anyway it struck me that most of them have a curious common background. Many of the Neocons have roots in extreme left-wing movements including Communism, Stalinism, and the violent period of the Black Panthers.
They are riddled with guilt in supporting oppression, which lead the the loss of freedom and the loss of millions of lives in gulags and concentration camps. To place as much distance between themselves and the twentieth century oppression, they moved to the right.
They figured that was a better choice than working within the values of the left and fixing it.
Now they are of the right. A right-wing that tacitly supports oppression throughout the world, particularly in the United States because of their Patriots Act, and overseas, the support of dictatorial regimes from China to the Middle East that become the breeding ground for terrorists.
But no guilt. But that's OK, because now, they have power and influence.
