Update 10:25 AM Tuesday: Xoff clearly beat me to the punch on this one yesterday: Tommy's in the eye of the beholder with links to Kevin Binversie of Lakeshore Laments and Robinson's wife, Wendy.
I read two different articles on Tommy Thompson's impact at the Wisconsin Republican State Convention. As far as I know, both are accurate. From the liberal Capital TImes:
By Anita WeierAPPLETON - ...Thompson, the four-term governor who briefly considered another run for the post, clearly had the old magic, with oratory that delighted and inspired the more than 900 GOP troops...
From the conservative Boots and Sabers:
... I oscillated between being furious and disgusted with Tommy. His speech was a long, rambling amalgamation of rhetoric from his glory days. He spent what seemed like an eternity just recounting his own biography. I thought this was disrespectful and selfish...Tommy was a jerk to Green and a jerk to the Republicans who have supported him for decades. I have very little use for Tommy.
I think Tommy showed us all how small Mark Green is by comparison. Green will stay as far away from Tommy as he can until the election.
Maybe none of it makes any difference, unless Tommy decides to actually challenge Herb Kohl. Then Tommy's presence on the ballot could remind voters of the mess he left the budget in, and Jim Doyle's hard work in keeping Wisconsin afloat.
Here Here! I was glad when Tommy ditched Wisconsin to head off for Washington D.C. I certainly don't want him back now.
