Colin Powell, Islamofascists, Communists, and more Bush Disasters

The Bush talking heads on Sunday morning TV further distanced themselves from reality as the November elections draw closer:

• The manipulation of Colin Powell as Secretary of State becomes more evident. The sadness that he was used to front the lies about Iraq is only exceeded by the tragedy of Powell's fine career tainted by his failure to follow his instincts.
• More dangerous claims to align the war in Iraq with previous American campaigns against Communism and Fascism. Again, it reflects a failure to comprehend the nature of the enemy, which condemns us to military and diplomatic failure.
• The fanatical war-mongering right wingers are getting more desperate.  Look for escalating attacks reminiscent of the 1950's style anti-communism in the coming weeks.
