Republicans reached a now low (or is that high) in hypocrisy.
First we get word that some Republicans are tired of lawyers.
"We don't need more ambulance chasers. We don't need frivolous lawsuits. And we don't need attorneys making people's lives miserable when they go to family court for divorces," said Rep. Frank Lasee, R-Green Bay. "And I think that having too many attorneys leads to all those bad results."
O.K. No more lawyers.
The we hear that Wisconsin is believed to be the first state to consider a law to settle divorcing couples' battles over Fluffy and Fido.
The measure would let couples specify, among other things, visitation rights and the right to move animals out of state.
This is the ingenuous work product of Republican Sheryl Albers who brought you proposals to 'create a state ballad, to ensure that gold bullion be exempt from sales tax, and to let residents drive golf carts on city roads.'
And the Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce can't figure out why Wisconsin has a bad business climate?
Update 7/18/2007 12:04 pm: Showing no shame, modesty, or propriety himself, Tom Bozzo at Marginal Utility exploits this story for all it is worth. Bozzo notes, Wisconsin Republicans: Not After the Family Pet Vote, the very selfish interest Albers has in this matter providing graphic details that include the incontinent aging dog that was the subject matter of her present husband's last divorce. These were matters Waxing America, a family blog, decided to omit in an effort to spare our readers angst when they should be out killing all the lawyers, or at least, the UW researchers.
Tom, have you no sense of decency?
Does anyone know how a convicted and sentenced felon named Scott Jensen can freely walk around law and order Waukesha County?

The WMC doesn't have to compete with wages and benefits when new business isn't moving into the state. A bad business enviroment is probably cheaper for some existing business than tax increases.
It is hard to understand with all the problems that goverment should be dealing with that someone would take the time for something as stupid as this. To many people are living in la la land.

If the last 6-1/2 years have tought me anything, it's that decency for its own sake is for suckers.
