I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter.
Vice President Richard "Dick" Cheney took this oath of office, as did Representative Tammy Baldwin. Following her oath to defend the Constitution, Rep. Baldwin yesterday signed on as a co-sponsor to HR 333, which calls for impeachment proceedings against Cheney for essentially not following his oath and becoming a domestic enemy of the Constitution. This is the right thing to do, and Cheney is the right target.
Baldwin also is supporting a resolution calling for an investigation whether Attorney General Alberto Gonzales should be impeached. Both Cheney and Gonzales should do the right thing and resign. Since neither will, Baldwin should use her new position on the House Judiciary Committee to push for their impeachment.
As usual, we're proud you represent us, Tammy.
