As most of you know, I generally follow Badger basketball and football games with Matt Lepay and Mike Lucas (In Praise of Matt Lepay and Mike Lucas) on WIBA-AM.
The combination of nursing a sore throat and the Iowa game starting at 7:00 pm led me to crawl into bed, turn on the television, and follow the ABC regional broadcast.
My observations:
- Musburger contributed nothing to the broadcast. I should have turned the sound down and listened to Matt and Mike.
- At least three times the inept ABC crew and the talking heads were reviewing previous plays missing key action on the field.
- I will not name the offending companies, but it was fairly monotonous and boring to know that each display of the game statistics, the presentation of the offensive line, the score, the game reviews, and the name of the fan sitting in row 26, section P was brought to me by some corporate sponsor.
- I save for last my thoughts about the Mush-head who broadcasted the game with Musburger. It is a given that Iowa stayed in the game, broke some big plays, showed a stout defense against the Badger offense, and given expectations, out-played Wisconsin. That said, the bias of the toad who provided the color with Musburger was just plain crummy.
Probably the saddest note is this. Of the over 80,000 fans in attendance, less than 15,000 were UW undergraduates. This year's first year students were never given a chance to purchase tickets.
At least he didn't say Wes-consin.

Right on, Charlie. Griese and his producers have special places in hell waiting for them.
Re no freshmen getting tix: Life as an enrollee at the UW becomes much less stressful after you simply accept that the athletic department has nothing but contempt for the student body. See also forced breathalysers for selected attendees, lousy seats, absurd ticket distribution policies, banning "Swingtown," etc.
