I have to read Mark Belling every week to see if there is fodder for a post. Thank you, Mark.
This week Belling tells us, Wisconsin win could propel Obama
Weeks ago it looked like Wisconsin’s late primary was an irrelevancy. It’s turning out to be just the opposite. If I’m right about Obama’s win, it could be the victory that propels him to the party nomination.
Readers of Waxing America knew that a week ago starting with a series of posts, the first appearing the morning of Super Tuesday. (Actually Texas and Ohio, more so the Buckeye State, will determine if an Obama nomination is inevitable. Even if Clinton takes Texas, if Obama takes Ohio, he has it.)
What fascinates is that Belling follows the other right-wing radio pundits down a path that concludes with this pithless observation:
Like it or not, I have to vote on Tuesday. I refuse to cop out and vote for someone who has pulled out of the race or write in somebody else. That leaves me with a choice between Hillary, Obama, McCain and the Huckster... That narrows my choice to Hillary Clinton or John McCain.
Good.
I will not burden you with the tortured logic the squeamish Belling uses to reject the other right wing candidates except to note it reflects the implosion of the Republican Party orchestrated by the neocons and George W. Bush.
Much of conservative America is shocked and dismayed to find their movement in shambles. The pundits claim that leaders diverted form the path of righteous conservatism.
Actually it is not all that complicated. Lie about a war or two, destroy the economy with deficit spending to finance that war, trample on basic liberties so you can unite the National Rifle Association (NRA) with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and you have a solid formula for national disaster.
Democrats better not get too smug this fall.
If there is one political faction on the heels of the Republicans in the race towards self-destruction it is my compatriots on the left.
Call me the left, for sake of argument. Democratic, centrist senators sure didn't put up much of a fuss about giving retro-active immunity to the apparent law-breakers regarding FISA surveillance violations... I recall Rep. David Obey saying Democratics will be far more fiscally responsible when running Congress ("you can count on it" or something to that effect). The earmarks continue. (I've got nothing against spending, but please be up front and honest about it.)... Rep. Nancy Pelosi took impeachment off the table almost immediately upon assuming power... What was the 2006 midterm election about, if not getting out of Iraq? It's 2008, Paul, and "Patreus' strategy is working" according to Republican political commercials down here in Illinois. I know, I know--Democrats need the white house as well, oh and a line item veto too.
Forgive me for being doubtful when the leading presidential candidates promise to be out of Iraq ten months after taking over the oval office. It doesn't matter if you are a centrist or extremist. If one doesn't do what she or he promised when running for office, their party will be in a shambles soon enough.

Hillary and Barack are both calling for increases in military spending and troop levels (both around 90,000). McCain is calling for 150,000 more troops.
In actual fact if there were a real debate in this country wouldn't one of these three be calling for troop reductions.
We have more than 725 military bases worldwide, with major presences in about 25 countries. Isn't it time to call for a rollback of the American Empire?
Jesse Jackson did this in 1988. He wanted to double education spending and had actually progressive domestic agenda with a much more humane foreign policy, unlike a certain "change" candidate who is running around the country saying everything is going to change if he gets elected.
How far we have fallen since Jesse's great 1988 actually hopeful effort. We have really lowered the bar with our embrace of Obama.
Truly sad.

I think you need to post this stuff on ny pro Obama sites. especially related to the Wisconsin primaries asap. Obama's cmp has been working very hard to make sure things like this do not get in the media or to the Pied Piper's mice.

The right-wingers forget that it's the Republican party, not the John Birch society.
Oops. Excuse me. The Birchers are too liberal for them.

I consider myself a strong conservative, but I'm going to vote for that chameleon Hillary in the primary. Why? because I think McCain has a lock on the Republican nomination and Hillary seems like the least likely, of the two, to be elected.
Man, I don't know if I can do it.

THERE IS NO CHANGES WITH OBAMA EXCEPT THE MEDIAS HELP AT HIDING HIS RECORD OF SUPPORTING THE WAR AND BUSH. WHAT OBAMA SUPPORTERS ARE AFRAID TO REALIZE. Obamas record shows he supports the war, voted twice in 2006 against bringing America's troops back home. He voted for war appropriations giving our money to Halliburton and Blackwater. His latest bit of posturing S 433 allows the Bush Administration to suspend any troop withdrawal!!!!if not suspended, still keeps the troops in Iraq for a long time to come? Obama when faced with tough choices always gave in to pressure from the Bush administration or corporate lobbyists. Such as Obama voted for Bush's energy bill, sending more than $13 billion in subsidies and tax breaks to oil, coal, and nuclear companies. Obama voted with Republicans to allow credit card companies to raise interest rates over 30 percent, INCREASING STUDENT LOANS RATES AND FEES increasing hardship for families. Obama voted for one of Bush's top priorities - expanding Nafta to South America - even as President Bush obstructed all the top Democratic priorities. Obama voted with Bush to make it harder for ordinary people to hold big corporations accountable when they do things like sell toxic toys, poisonous pet food, or just plain rip you off. Obama was the Senate's biggest Democratic advocate of subsidies for liquid coal, even though liquid coal produces twice the global warming pollution of the crude oil it's meant to replace and voted for increased subsidies, albeit with conditions.Obama, a Hamiltonian believer in free trade and supporters of globalization has lent his support to the "Hamilton Project formed by corporate-neoliberal Citigroup chair Robert Rubin and other 'Wall Street Democrats' to counter populist rebellion against corporate tendencies within the Democratic Party. Obama provided assistance to pro-war candidates (such as Joe Lieberman). Obama voted for "business-friendly 'tort reform' bill that rolls back working peoples' ability to obtain reasonable redress and compensation...from corporations!!! Obama considers single payer universal health care too socialist and has stated that he prefers voluntary solutions. **He voted against requiring medical care for aborted fetuses who survive. Abortion opponents see Obama's vote on medical care for aborted fetuses as a refusal to protect the helpless. Some have even accused him of supporting infanticide. He supported allowing retired police officers to carry concealed weapons, but opposed allowing people to use banned handguns to defend against intruders in their homes. And the list of sensitive topics goes on. With only a slim, two-year record in the U.S. Senate, Obama doesn't have many controversial congressional votes which political opponents can frame into attack ads. But his eight years as an Illinois state senator are sprinkled with potentially explosive land mines, such as his abortion and gun control votes. recent land purchase from a political supporter who is facing charges in an unrelated kickback scheme involving investment firms seeking state business. Obama has no substance. He has provided no solutions.

I think Obama is as much a Washingtonian as Ted Kennedy. I think the liberal media and the left wingers want to elect him. If you do not play the game you will be out - even if he gets elected as President and he does not play the game - he will be a one term president - remember Carter and Bush the elder. They were honest but inept at the game. I will vote Clinton who is an insider - Yes - so what? Go Hillary
