The Wisconsin State Journal reports that our state has a new business group:
Some of Wisconsin’s top business leaders have formed a statewide business group they say will offer comprehensive, bipartisan solutions to improve the state’s business climate
What makes this organization interesting is two things. First, it does not intend to become involved in elections but rather focus on legislation and long range planning:
...the new group will take “a holistic approach to economic development. It’s not focused on one or two areas that you read about a lot.”
Secondly the diverse list of participants also means change:
Marc Marotta, a partner at the Foley and Lardner law firm...Also helping form the new business council are Phil Prange and James Klauser, key aides to former Gov. Tommy Thompson, a Republican...Scott VanderSanden, president of AT&T Wisconsin, is chairman of the new group. Other businesses represented on the board of directors include MillerCoors, American Transmission Co., Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Orion Energy Systems and Park Bank.
If they can partner with organized labor and the academic community we may really have something. I am not sure that this corner will always be in agreement with the Wisconsin Business Council, but it will be a refreshing change to have a discussion with those who understand that to make Wisconsin work we need to invest in the state's intellectual capacity as well as infrastructure.
Speaking of diversity, lets hope the membership is a little more diverse than the list above, which is mostly white males.
The Delusional Brotherhood of White Capitalists rides again..and again and again.. One voice speaking for all of us. What new theft will they devise, how will they profit from the demise of our environment, the enslavement of minorities and workers. Encore! Encore

It's called freedom of assembly. Rallying against professional bullies is their right.

The rights of assembly refers to citizenry gathering in public spaces to present their public view and interests to the public.
A Cabal is a number of people united in some close design, usually to promote their private views and interests.
This Cabal, the DBWC, will never allow me to speak at thier assemblies nor will I be allowed in the door. Please call me if you know of a public assembly there.

Freedom of assembly, sometimes used interchangeably with the freedom of association, is the individual right to come together with other individuals and collectively express, promote, pursue and defend common interests.[1] The right to freedom of association is recognized as a human right, a political freedom and a civil liberty.
Freedom of assembly and freedom of association may be used to distinguish between the freedom to assemble in public places and the freedom of joining an association. Freedom of assembly is often used in the context of the right to protest, while freedom of association is used in the context of labor rights and the right to collective bargaining, for example by joining a trade union. Freedom of assembly as guaranteed in the Canadian Constitution and the Constitution of the United States are interpreted to mean both the freedom to assemble and the freedom to join an association.[2]

You are correct sir! But, let us question, is this an assembly of fine upstanding citizens or a cabal of evil plotters? With my socialist background and Basque heritage and surname, I presume a general meaning of evil, and insidious conspiracy and backroom intrigue. I see no kinship with the general population. I see a group of shadowy anchorites.

I'm sorry that wealthy land owners have driven you from your villages and taken your women and livestock. But take heed, cometh the hour, cometh the man...Sir Soglin rides.
