It’s that time again for the annual downtown move. Moving activity is predicted to begin this weekend, August 8th, and peak on Friday, August 14th.
Due to the many items that will be disposed of during moving season, the City of Madison Streets Division has provided several tips on how to make refuse and recycling easier on collection crews as well as residents. A few quick tips include placing as much material as possible within refuse and recycling carts, avoiding putting trash in cardboard boxes, and keeping refuse and recycling separate when placed at the curb.
The Streets Division has also provided movers with some donation site locations and hours for those looking to pick up, or get rid of some items. Downtown residents may have nonperishable food or other household items that others can use, and there are community partners working to collect and distribute those items to those in need.

Good luck to all downtown movers!
